St Mary’s Church hosts a lively and vibrant community which provides for the spiritual needs of the community, cares for the building making it accessible for all, and provides a huge amount of social care locally.
St Mary’s Church attracts more than 20,000 visitors per year and many more to services. It is a place where people are inspired by the beauty and history, find peace, shelter and comfort. We work hard to make sure everyone is welcomed and everyone can connect. Our church is ‘staffed’ by an incredible team of volunteer welcomers and volunteers who say that their lives are enhanced by the work they do at St Mary’s Church.
In addition, St Mary’s Church runs social action projects including:
- Youth and Children’s Work which provides a safe place for over 120 youngsters.
- Vintage Ministry caring for the older members of our community and offering lunches to those who might otherwise eat alone.
- Parent and baby groups which seek to combat isolation for new parents
- Coffee and craft groups
- Support for those who are homeless
